Shop Car v1.1

It's coming along. On sunday Mitch and I bolted the cage in properly and after this photo i bolted the front bar on etc. Once we machine some spacers for the rear camber arms, get tyres for the proper wheels and remake the handbrake bracket...we will be in business.

Shop Car

Been putting in some hours on the shop car lately, still needs a fair bit before we can drive it reliably.

We received a Blitz intercooler kit in the last container though, and I am thankful for buying genuine. Came complete with battery relocation brackets, washer bottle relocation brackets, clamps, mounts silicone hoses etc.

Decisions, Decisions

Lack of funding is a killer.
And because i'm horrible at managing what little i earn, it's constantly a problem for me. In the last week or so i've managed to accrue over $900 in fines, including my car being major defected last thursday. (Not allowed to drive until car is fixed and presented to a Police station for clearance)

Current plan of action is:
De-register car before time runs out for clearing defects but hopefully after a certain track day i want to attend :P
Make friends with SPER (State Penalties Enforcement Registry)
Fix all the shit i've been planning on fixing for ages.
Maybe even paint some panels.
Re-rego at the start of the new year.

And ultimately
Drive loose and undo the hard work fixing up the car :P

I Hate Hater Haters

Morning Session:

Trying to concentrate on learning to drive rather than worrying about anything else!

Kind of growing to love car in it's mildly un-defectable state. Shit looks retarded from most angles, but sometimes I walk outside of work, and catch some kind of magic glance and fall in love with it again. It is like owning a retarded dog, that all your friends feel sorry for and don't like haha.

Blogger hates me.

I put up a new post, but apparently Blogger has been on a haterade bender and the post was being homo. So i binned it.

Never fear, Jack the magical fixer of my fails has done it for me, below. Haha.

My contribution that jack doesn't have to fix:

With love and whatnot.

What Grinds Mitch's Gears

(posted on behalf of Mitch)
I've probably missed the bus on this topic, but whatever.
Drift is growing. It had a big boom due to F&F a while back, which taught me heaps and shit, and then slowed down again. But it hasn't stopped.

Frequenting a few forums gives a look at what people are doing, and how much the scene is growing by, and at times, it's scary.
There's heaps of sweet dudes in the drift scene and room for plenty more, but seriously
SO MANY DOUCHEBAGS are trying to join in.
Now I know expansion of the sport is great, blah blah blah. But any loss of the grass roots nature is terrible.
Fuck, I digress.

Mitch's Lock Knuckles

Mitch will be doing Modified Knuckles to suit those wanting more Lock, Response and Feel out of their S Chassis. They will be shortened and have a revised geometry to correct steering arm angle on Low Down cars. Depending on what vehicle combination you have, he can do them on a change over basis, or modify your existing ones (this will take some time). They will be painted up in Team Fancy Hedge colours or a colour of your choice.

If you are interested in this product, please comment your details or otherwise contact Myself or Mitch.

Disclaimer: ALL efforts are taken to ensure that these knuckles are strong and can withstand the forces of drifting etc. However these are to be used STRICTLY at your own risk. They are for Off Road Use ONLY. We do not hold any responsibility for the longevity of these modified parts, however they are built to the same standard as any other modified knuckle.

Next morning sesh is looking unlikely. So broke.
Fuck apprentice wages.

Missing the days of my car being clean enough to daily. Might try sort a new qtr, bonnet and headlight and get a quick spray from a mate...when i'm not broke. (read: never)

Street > Anything.

Guy following was insane.

Can't wait to go again, with a bit more grip.

Just because I love this song.

It's a hard knock life

Touge was epic. Yes, epic.
10+ car trains, nose to door tandems, like something from an old Option video.

Everyone was driving mint and avoiding rails, except a mate in a ke70 at the start of the night, and myself on the last run. NEVER CALL LAST RUN.

Cars beaten straight/er now, and painted quarters silver so they match a little better.
Will take some screen shots from a couple of videos and put them up later.
Such a good night, no regrets.

Drift Vs Life

Tonight I had the opportunity to go get drunk with some 'bros' in the city, or go do skids in the hills with some other 'bros'.
This was a serious problem. I like skids, but i also enjoy alcohol consumption.

Both options had their pro's and con's.
And it was pretty much even in my mind.

How did i (painfully slowly) decide?
I couldn't be fucked dressing nice.

Unrelated video is unrelated.

Probably have an update of how much shit i run into tomorrow.

Track Spec Silvia (SR20DE Twin Carb NA Tune!!)

Lack of content fail

Do yourself a favour and acquire Pendulum's 'Hold Your Colour', not just a couple songs, the whole album. Play it from front to back, preferably while driving. You won't look back!

Mitch is now on board, and hopefully content will be more frequent+interesting.
Hold us to it, comment our shit, tell us your thoughts.

UNION Auto Club

So the deal is, these guys dont know me, or our scene..i just lurk on their blog from time to time.

But I had to quote this from one of their latest posts:

"don't forget kids;
drifting is all about friends, and enjoying a day at the track.

take this shit too seriously, and you can suck a huge dick.

unless you are into that, then suck something you really don't like."

Make sure to check them out! Click Here!

For your sorrows

Some of the larger parts taken off for DOT inspection.
In the middle of installing a Bigger/Better cage in the drift car. Have already painted the rear half, just gotta install and paint the front half. Oh and we have a Do Luck Floor Brace now.
New Steering wheel!

More updates coming tonight!

Inspire.

There are some things on the way for the Drift Car in the coming containers. We were always building it to be registerable, but seeing as The Australian DOT are pieces of shit, we are going track only. This isn't how I wanted things to be, but I want the car to be rowdy haha.

Closest container:
Cusco Front+Rear Tower Bar including Brake Master Stopper
7 Piece Around Dash Safety 21 Cage with extra Diagonal and horizontal pieces added
17x9 +15 Sparco 5 Spoke
More Brides to choose from

Next Container:
Greddy Basic Front Mount (Bought new for bargain price)
Some form of clutch
Maybe 2.1L Medium Tune SR20 ;)
& whatever else we find

Mitch is making us some knuckles, he just doesn't know it yet. The car is getting stickered up in the coming weeks. etc etc

May also paint interior/tint while changing Cages.

Depending on what wheels we find/ultimately end up running, i would like to get rid of those horrible front FRP fenders, but we'll see.

Some day we might run aero, but we are doing fine with the oem right now.

Rainy Day Mountain Run from Derek Slyter on Vimeo.

Morning Session!

So we made it to Morning Session.
Unfortunately Mitch's car didn't make it due to electrical problems. The Drift car did well for itself, only issues on the day were a cooler pipe coming off and the AFM plug coming loose. Oh and it needs some more/better parts from the next container!

We got up at 5am to pick the trailer up at 5:30, load the car up and leave by 6:30. Jarad had borrowed the tow car and drove to the event, which on behalf of the shop, me, dad and mitch are very thankful for. Once we were there the Turbo sensation was weird compared to NA, and the car is pretty different to how mine was setup. I wasn't linking anything and was just taking Dad and Jarad for laps until Mitch turned up and went crazy haha. Anyway, Pictures:
